Age Group Chart for Fall ‘11/Spring ‘12

Your son or daughter will play for the age group based on his or her age during the seasonal year - Aug. 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012.  His or her age (oldest) during that year determines the age group.

Playing Up an Age Group

Players will be placed on teams based on their age group as established by CDYSL. The age cut off used by Eastern New York Soccer League of which CDYSL is a member league is August 1. For example, if your daughter is born on September 1, 1997, and is going into 7th grade, she will be placed on a U-12 team (with 5th and 6th graders), and not a U-14 team with 7th and 8th graders unless the parent in writing specifically requests a player move-up.  Players may request a move-up to a travel team one age group older than their CDYSL placement age. Such a request shall be in writing before try-outs. Move-ups will be granted only if:
a: the player requesting the move up has the physical ability to compete at the requested age group
b. there is an open spot at the age level requested
c. the move-up will not jeopardize the viability of the age appropriate team
D. the first priority for move-ups shall be for players moving to an age group that includes the majority of players in their school grade
e. if after consideration of subparagraph d above there are mover move-up requests than available spots a try-out will be held to determine the placement of players per the above tryout procedure
f. move-up request are good for only one season, additional move-ups must be requested in writing each season
All final decisions on move-ups must be cleared by the coaches and board of directors.

Player Commitment
The BHUSC recognizes the benefits of the young athletes participating in different activities during the long soccer season. We ask that you email the team manager or coach when you are unable to make a practice or game so that your coach can make their needed adjustments. If you have chosen to accept an invitation to play on one of our “A” teams, you and your child have made even a greater commitment to the program and your attendance is expected. Balancing which school, musical or other activities you choose is a personal choice that only your family can make. Many of these activities (including soccer) are dependent on a certain number of participants attending and participating on a consistent basis. PLEASE DO NOT Overextend YOUR CHILD. If soccer is not your main activity, than playing on an “A” team may not be for you. Typically these teams require a greater commitment of the entire team in order to achieve higher individual and team results. These greater results can only be accomplished with a commitment of all team members.
